American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE)
The North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE) which
is administered by a commercial testing service
with facilities for computer testing. Applications may
be obtained from the Board. All applicants must apply through
a state veterinary board.
Requirements:
NAVLE exam applicants
must be in the senior year of, or be a graduate of,
an accredited school of veterinary medicine, or; be enrolled
in an Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates
(ECFVG) certification program.
Application for Kansas Veterinary License
must accompany NAVLE application.
Deadlines:
The NAVLE test window
for fall is mid-November through mid-December; the test
window for spring the first two weeks of Apirl. The deadline
to have NAVLE applications to the Wamego Board office is
ninety-five (95) days prior to the opening of the testing
windows.

Fees:
Fees for application
in Kansas are: $75 for state license application;
$50 for NAVLE exam application; and $500
for the NAVLE exam fee. A check in the amount of
$625.00 payable to the Kansas Board of Veterinary Examiners
must accompany completed application forms.

Veterinary
Technician National Examination (VTNE)
This examination is prepared under a contractual agreement between
the American Association of Veterinary State Boards
(AAVSB) and the Professional Examination Service (PES).
All applicants must apply through a state veterinary board.
Requirements:
VTNE exam applicants
must be a graduate of an accredited veterinary technician
program.
Deadlines:
The VTNE is given
on the 3rd Friday in January and June of each year. Required fees
and documents are due in the Board office 60 days prior to the test
date.

in Kansas are: $20 for state registration; $130
for VTNE exam.
A check in the amount of $150.00 payable
to the Kansas Board of Veterinary Examiners must accompany
completed application
form.

Jurisprudence
Exam
Jurisprudence
exams are administered by appointment at the Wamego
office, 8:00 to 5:00, Monday through Friday.
Once a year,
usually in February, the jurisprudence exam is offered on
the campus of KSU in Manhattan.
Applicants may
write or call to make an appointment to take the jurisprudence
exam, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00
a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the Board office in Wamego. The exam
takes one and one-half to two hours to complete.
Fees:
There is no exam fee.
