The Kansas State Board of Mortuary Arts requires that all mortuary college students enrolled and participating in a practicum course being conducted at a Kansas funeral home to pre-register with the board. Pre-registered student embalmers must be under the direct personal supervision of a licensed Kansas embalmer at all times during the embalming process. The term "direct personal supervision" means that a licensed Kansas embalmer takes full responsibility for actions of the pre-registered student embalmer and shall be physically present at all times during the embalming process (K.S.A. 65-1703). Pre-registration paperwork should be available at the mortuary college and is also available by contacting Mortuary Arts Board Office Manager Leslie Garwood (email: boma1@ksbma.ks.gov, telephone: (785) 296-3980 at the board's Topeka office.
The following is a list of all
individuals that have pre-registered with the board. Please note that the
status as a pre-registered student pertains only to students
currently enrolled and participating in a practicum program at a
mortuary college approved by the Kansas Board. Once the practicum
program is completed, status as a pre-registered student embalmer
ceases to exist.
