KSAE:

The Kansas Society of Association Executives is the Association for Associations. KSAE is a not for profit individual membership society. Members exchange ideas and strive to improve their knowledge and their profession.

Mission Statement:

The Mission of the Kansas Society of Association Executives is to promote professional excellence in Association management.

Purposes:

  • Promoting common business interests for association executives
  • Providing an environment for the exchange of ideas, experiences, and opinions relating to association management
  • Promoting the discussion and study of all aspects and functions of associations and their management
  • Conducting and cooperating in courses of study for the benefit of association executives
  • Acquiring, preserving, and disseminating data and valuable information relative to the functions and accomplishments of voluntary associations
  • Developing and encouraging high standards of service and conduct for association executives
  • Increasing public understanding of associations and their economic importance
  • Appearing before, submitting statements to, and otherwise communicating with members of the state legislature with respect to legislation, or proposed legislation, of direct interest to association executives
  • Cooperating with other associations and organizations of a like nature

Programs and Services:

Annual Conference and Expo
KSAE holds a full-day conference with education sessions, networking and a trade show. An evening social event is held in conjunction with the conference. The 2008 event dates were July 17-18. In 2008, KSAE held its Conference & Expo in conjunction with its Association Appreciation Day & Golf Classic. The Conference & Expo is scheduled for Thursday, July 17 at the Capitol Plaza Hotel and Association Appreciation Day was held Friday, July 18 at Lake Shawnee Golf Course.

Seminars
KSAE presents educational seminars designed to assist association leaders. The education committee selects topics of particular interest to association staff.

Roundtables
Members learn from their colleagues at informal roundtables. CEOs, Meeting Planners, Education Directors and Assistant Directors meet to share ideas and find solutions to common challenges.

Networking Luncheons
Several luncheons are planned throughout the year to bring members together for networking and information. Legislative leaders speak at the events during the legislative session to give and update on current topics.

Member Directory
KSAE publishes a member directory with address information on all members and photos of Professional and Legislative Agent members. The directory also contains KSAE Mission, Bylaws, Standards of Conduct and other information. Advertising is accepted for this publication. KSAE Legislative Event
Registered lobbyists may elect to participate as a sponsor in the annual KSAE Legislature Appreciation Lunch at the Capitol. Sponsorship is $150 and includes three lunches for the sponsor, recognition the day of the event and in the KSAE newsletter and at the Message Center. The first of these yearly events was held on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 and it proved to be a success. Legislators appreciated KSAE's inclusion of their staffs in the event. KSAE Resource Center
Room 058 in the State Capitol is available for lobbyists during the 2009 Legislative session. Message service, coat racks, phones, audio of the House and Senate proceedings and a place to meet fellow lobbyists is provided to subscribers. The state provides WiFi access free of charge. Fax and copy services are available to participants at a nominal charge. KSAE membership is required.

Association Appreciation Day
KSAE celebrates the association profession and its contributions to society with the KSAE Golf Classic held each summer. Proceeds benefit the most recent winner of the KSAE Community Service Award. Elected leaders from member organizations are invited to join in the festivities. The 2008 Association Appreciation Day was held at Lake Shawnee on Friday, July 18. Community Service
To remind members and the public of associations' responsibility to their community, KSAE takes part in the Sheltered Living Festival of Trees through the donation of a tree or wreath to the annual auction.

The KSAE Community Service Award recognizes a member association for a program implemented on a statewide basis with member involvement. The association program receiving the award is presented with a check that is funded with proceeds from the KSAE Golf Classic.

Legislative Action KSAE monitors legislation that might impact associations and participates in the legislative process on the state and national level to protect members' interests.

Career Center Members may link to careerheadquarters.org to search for job openings or post positions descriptions.

Online Classifieds can be found on the KSAE website. Local association jobs are listed on the website.

Salary Survey KSAE publishes a salary survey every two years. The last one conducted was in 2007. The report is provided free of charge to KSAE member associations that participate in the survey. KSAE members not participating in the survey may purchase a copy for $100.

Committees:

Conference and Expo
Organizes the annual conference and expo activities with the assistance of the Education Committee.

Membership
Reviews membership applications and coordinates membership solicitation, recruitment and retention.

Education
Determines educational topics and prepares educational programs.

CAE Study
Organizes and promotes participation in CAE study group and maintains reference materials.

Governmental Affairs
Monitors legislature regarding issues of importance to association managers and prepares and presents KSAE position to legislature.

Public Relations
Promotes association value and image to members and prospective members, the legislature and the public and publicizes members' community projects. Develops policies regarding content and distribution of KSAE roster, web page, and newsletter.

Budget
Oversees Society assets, prepares and presents budget consistent with the activities of the society.

Nominating
Selects slate of officers for presentation to the membership.
