No. 10-004

RIBBON CUTTING FOR NATIONAL GUARD FACILITY IN SALINA

A ceremony will be held Tuesday, Jan. 12, at 10:30 a.m. to reorganize the Kansas National Guard’s Field Maintenance Shop #11 to the Unit Training Equipment Site, at 1127 Armory Road, Salina.

The expanded capability of this reorganized facility better serves units training in the Salina area to include the Pre-mobilization Training Assistance Element, the Great Plains Joint Training Center and the 88M Transportation Military Occupational Specialty course.
“The Unit Training Equipment Site will allow for prepositioning of equipment in Salina that units can draw in order to train to modern day training objectives associated with the current war on terrorism or the performance of skills associated with their military occupational specialty,” said Maj. Gen. Tod Bunting, Kansas adjutant general.

The facility also continues to provide maintenance support to the Kansas Army National Guard within their assigned area ensuring their equipment remains fully mission capable for training and emergency response missions.

“By prepositioning vehicles and equipment at this location it saves organizations time and money by not having to move items to and from the training area. A unit commander or organization leader can be confident that the equipment package necessary to facilitate their training event will be well maintained and serviceable when needed,” said Lt. Col. Tony Divish, Surface Maintenance Manager for the Kansas Army National Guard.

Following the event, there will be a static display of equipment utilized in the training of mobilization tasks, the training of the 88M transportation military occupational specialty and equipment depicting maintenance support capabilities. UTES personnel will be on hand to answer questions.
