FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 29, 2009 No. 09-080 SMOKY HILL AIR NATIONAL GUARD RANGE HOLDS OPEN HOUSE FOR THE PUBLIC Military aircraft will take to the sky for aerial gunnery training and public display Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Smoky Hill Air National Guard Range. Saturday’s events serve to recognize local support of the training missions taking place at Smoky Hill and introduce the newly acquired Air Support Operations Squadron mission. Gates will open to the public at 8:30 a.m. with flying activities beginning at approximately 10 a.m. The aerial displays are scheduled to include an AH-64 Apache, A-10 Thunderbolt, B-52, B-1, F-16, C-130 and an unmanned aerial vehicle. Entrance is free, and food and refreshments will be available for purchase. Visitors are welcome to bring in coolers.
