KANSAS NATIONAL GUARDSMEN FEATURED ON CHRISTMAS DAY RADIO SHOW

Members of the Kansas National Guard currently stationed in Iraq will be guests on a radio program airing this week on KLWN 1320 AM in Lawrence and on the Internet at www.klwn.com. The soldiers are featured on the Jeremy Taylor Show, which will run Dec. 25 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and will be replayed Dec. 26 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Seven soldiers with the 287th Sustainment Brigade, who deployed to Iraq this past fall, were interviewed for the program via phone by talk show host Jeremy Taylor while several of their family members in Kansas joined Taylor in the radio studio for the on-air discussion.

Governor Kathleen Sebelius, Maj. Gen. Tod Bunting, the Kansas Adjutant General; Guard Chaplain (Lt. Col.) David Jenkins and Chuck Bredahl with the Kansas Guard’s Employer Support and Reserve organization participated in the show to talk to the troops and their families, discuss their mission in Iraq, and talk about what it was like being away from home during the holidays.

“We really appreciate the opportunity KLWN radio gave our Kansas Guard members and their families by having these soldiers on the air with their loved ones and letting them talk about their deployment so others can better understand the role of Guard members in Iraq and at home,” said Maj. Gen. Tod Bunting, Kansas Adjutant General.

Approximately 260 Kansas Guardsmen of the 287th Sustainment Brigade are conducting logistical support for U.S. and Coalition forces in their assigned area of operations for Operation Iraqi Freedom. The 287th is headquartered in Wichita, and is also made up of the 169th Corp Support Sustainment Battalion, headquartered in Olathe; the 891st Engineer Battalion headquartered in Iola; and the 287th Special Troop Battalion, headquartered in Hays, as well as subordinate units in each battalion.
