BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY FORUM WILL FOCUS ON DISASTER OPERATIONS Kansas Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Tod Bunting is inviting business and industry leaders to attend the first Business and Industry Forum for Disaster Operations on Tuesday, May 20, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Great Plains Joint Regional Training Center, Salina Airport, Salina. The purpose of the forum will be to determine how the public private sectors can be mutually supportive in disaster response within the state. The forum will lay the foundation for interaction between businesses and emergency management agencies, including, state, federal and local managers who will discuss the disaster response process. The focus of this first forum will be the utility, telecommunications, and transportation communities. Community sectors will discuss their state, regional, and national emergency response capabilities. Key to the forum will be discussion on development of a Kansas Emergency Resources Registry that could provide private sector resources and expertise to the state in response to natural disasters or terrorist incidents. The agenda includes a case study of the Greensburg tornado, presentations by select businesses on their emergency plans; a presentation on Crisis City at the Great Plains Joint Regional Training Center; a briefing on Geographic Information Systems; a discussion on Continuity of Operations and an overview of the Eisenhower Center for Homeland Security Research, Evaluation and Education in Topeka.
