FOURTH ANNUAL FISHING TOURNAMENT TO HONOR FALLEN GUARDSMEN

The Fourth Annual Veteran's Memorial Bass Tournament will be Saturday, April 26, at Coffey County Lake, south of Wolf Creek Generating Station near Burlington, Kan. on Highway 75.

The tournament, sponsored by the 2nd Battalion, 130th Field Artillery Family Support Group, is dedicated to the nine Kansas National Guard soldiers who have died in action in Iraq and Afghanistan. They are Sgt. 1st Class Clinton Wisdom, Sgt. Don Allen Clary, Sgt. Derrick Lutters, Sgt. Jessie Davila, Sgt. 1st Class Bernard Deghand, Spc. John Wood, Sgt. 1st Class David Berry, Sgt. Courtney Dean Finch and Sgt. 1st Class Travis Scott Bachman. The idea for the tournament originated from Wisdom's love for fishing.

The boat-fishing bass tournament will begin at 6 a.m. with check-in and pre-tournament announcements and will end at 12:30 p.m. with weigh-in. There is no entry fee for the tournament. Prizes and trophies will be awarded. Bratwurst, hamburgers and side dishes will be served at the end of the event; a $5 donation is requested.

For additional information about the tournament call Eric Thompson, (785) 742-5636.
