FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE February 26, 2008 No. 08-022 ARMED FORCES APPRECIATION DAY AT STATEHOUSE FEB. 28 Personnel from the Kansas National Guard will be participating in the Armed Forces Appreciation Day at the State Capitol on Thursday, Feb. 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Exhibitors will be in the first floor rotunda. Chaplain (Capt.) John Potter, chaplain for Joint Forces Headquarters Kansas, will deliver the invocation prior to the morning session of the Kansas House of Representatives. Governor Kathleen Sebelius will sign proclamations in her office from 9:45 to 10:15 including a proclamation declaring Feb. 28 as Armed Forces Appreciation Day in Kansas. Kansas National Guard participants in the days events will include the Recruiting and Retention Command, 73rd Civil Support Team (Weapons of Mass Destruction), 184th Air Refueling Wing, 190th Air Refueling Wing, Family Support Program, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve and Kansas STARBASE. The 35th Brass, the brass quintet of the 35th Infantry Division Band, will perform from 12 to 1 p.m. in the rotunda. The members of the quintet are Staff Sgt. Joseph Worthington, trombone; Sgt. Kevin Pickrell, trumpet; Spc. Rachel Adame, trumpet; Spc. Audra Osborn, French horn and Spc. Joseph Felton, tuba. -30- |
