CARGILL EMPLOYEES WILL PRESENT CHECK TO KANSAS NATIONAL GUARD FOUNDATION

Employees of Cargill, Inc., in Wichita like casual Fridays and were willing to pay for the privilege of wearing jeans and tennis shoes to work by donating $5. Their efforts raised more than $1,900, which will be donated to the Kansas National Guard Foundation.

Representatives of Cargill employees will present a check to the foundation on Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 10:30 a.m. the company’s facility at 151 N. Main Street. Presenting the check will be Janice Rocheleau, Deanna Gaffney, Tresha Wilhelm and Laura Figueroa, who is the wife of Spc. Gabriel Figueroa, who recently returned from a tour of duty in Iraq with Kansas National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 108th Aviation.

The check will be accepted by retired Command Sgt. Maj. Viviano Reveles, a member of the foundation’s board of directors. The board was recently the recipient of more than $150,000 donated by Kansans to bring Kansas National Guard troops home for Christmas from Fort Bliss, Texas, where they were training for a deployment to Iraq, as well as some soldiers who were on medical hold at other locations in the United States.

“We appreciate any and all efforts toward this recent fund drive,” said Reveles. “The fund drive itself exceeded everyone’s expectations. I know that the chairperson of the board, Barbara Bunting, wishes to extend her thanks to the employees of Cargill for this donation and we’ll make sure we spend these funds wisely.”

The Kansas National Guard Foundation is a non profit 501(c)3 organization which supports a variety of programs that benefit Kansas National Guardsmen and their families.
