FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Nov. 28, 2007 No. 07-177 TOPEKA STUDENTS MAKE CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS FOR KANSAS GUARDSMEN The first grade classes at Wanamaker Elementary School in Topeka are
doing their part to make the holidays a little brighter for members of
the Kansas National Guards 35th Military Police Company. Approximately
170 soldiers of the company deployed in June for a year-long mission in
Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. About 35 soldiers are in the
rear detachment. The classes have been making Christmas decorations to go on the units
Christmas tree. Members of the unit who did not deploy will visit the
school on Friday, Nov. 30, when classes let out for the day at approximately
3:20 p.m., to pick up the decorations and thank the students for their
work. The decorations will be displayed on the rear detachments
tree in Topeka. -30- |
