FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Nov. 9, 2007 No. 07-173 ADJUTANT GENERAL TO SERVE AS GRAND MARSHALL IN WICHITA PARADE SATURDAY;
SPEAK AT VETERANS DAY EVENT SUNDAY IN TOPEKA Maj. Gen. Tod Bunting, the adjutant general, will join Gov. Kathleen
Sebelius as the Grand Marshalls for this years Wichita Veterans
Day Parade Sat. Nov. 10. The parade begins at 11 a.m. at Central and Main.
Its theme is Honoring the Citizen Soldiers of the National Guard
and Reserves. Bunting will also be the featured speaker at a Veterans Day event Sunday,
Nov. 11, at the Great Overland Station, 701 N. Kansas Ave. in Topeka. The event When the Bugle Calls
honors all veterans
and is being sponsored by the American Legion Riders and Patriot Guard
Riders of Topeka. The doors will open at noon with the ceremony set to
begin at 2 p.m. The Kansas National Guard Mounted Color Guard will present the colors
and the invocation will be given by Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Larry Parrish,
chaplain of Joint Forces Headquarters Kansas. The Mobile Museum Kansas National Guard will be on site. The Museum showcases
the progressive involvement of the Guard in the states history,
from the early settlement of the Plains through the Civil War, Indian
Wars and other military campaigns up to present Kansas National Guard
activities in the Global War on Terrorism. The Mobile Museum contains
photos, documents, uniforms, vintage headgear, a Light Anti-Tank Weapon,
Tactical Operations Weapon and other pieces of Kansas National Guard history
selected from the Kansas National Guard Museum in Topeka. The event is free and open to the public; free will donations will be
