Maj. Gen. Tod Bunting, the adjutant general, will join Gov. Kathleen Sebelius as the Grand Marshalls for this year’s Wichita Veteran’s Day Parade Sat. Nov. 10. The parade begins at 11 a.m. at Central and Main. Its theme is “Honoring the Citizen Soldiers of the National Guard and Reserves.”

Bunting will also be the featured speaker at a Veterans Day event Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Great Overland Station, 701 N. Kansas Ave. in Topeka.

The event “When the Bugle Calls…” honors all veterans and is being sponsored by the American Legion Riders and Patriot Guard Riders of Topeka. The doors will open at noon with the ceremony set to begin at 2 p.m.

The Kansas National Guard Mounted Color Guard will present the colors and the invocation will be given by Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Larry Parrish, chaplain of Joint Forces Headquarters Kansas.

The Mobile Museum Kansas National Guard will be on site. The Museum showcases the progressive involvement of the Guard in the state’s history, from the early settlement of the Plains through the Civil War, Indian Wars and other military campaigns up to present Kansas National Guard activities in the Global War on Terrorism.
