KANSAS NATIONAL GUARD SELECTS NEW HEALTH AND BENEFITS SUPPORT SPECIALIST

David C. “DC” Hannah has been selected as the Kansas National Guard’s Health and Benefits Support Specialist.

In this position, Hannah will assist Guardsmen, Reservists and their families in learning about the benefits to which they are entitled, put them in contact with the appropriate agencies, as well as assist them in obtaining benefits. These benefits may include vocational rehabilitation, home improvement or structural alterations, mental health services and educational benefits. In addition, there are benefits available to Soldiers and Airmen who have not been deployed, such as Department of Veterans Affairs home loans.

“As the Guard’s Health and Benefits Support Specialist, I’ll have the opportunity to help Kansas National Guardsmen, and ensure they have the resources, programs and information they need,” Hannah said. “Guard members typically have a full-time job and family, and some may be going to college at the same time, so I’ll be able to bridge the gap in their busy schedules and connect them to help they may not have known was available to them,” he added. “This will be a rewarding opportunity.”

Hannah, of Oskaloosa, is a former Nebraska National Guardsman and long-time supporter of the National Guard. He is a member of the American Legion, American Legion Riders and Patriot Guard Riders. Prior to accepting this position, Hannah was a Medicare Benefit Integrity Investigator for IntegriGuard LLC in Topeka.

He attended the University of Nebraska and graduated from the Creighton University School of Medicine Paramedic Training Program in 1990. In addition, Hannah completed coursework at the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center, St. Joseph (Mo.) Police Academy, and the U.S. Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration.

Hannah replaces Nathan Gray who recently took a position in law enforcement.
