FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sept. 27, 2007 No. 07-155 CABELAS TO RECEIVE SPECIAL RECOGNITION FOR SUPPORT OF THE KANSAS
NATIONAL GUARD In appreciation for its support of the Kansas National Guard, sporting
goods retailer Cabelas will receive special recognition from the
Kansas Adjutant Generals Department on Wednesday, Oct. 3. During a 3 p.m. ceremony in the Cabelas store, 10300 Cabela Drive,
Kansas City, Kan., Maj. Gen. Tod Bunting, the adjutant general, will present
Dave Lueth, general manager, and Jimmy Lopez, public relations director,
with a framed 150th Anniversary Limited Edition commemorative print, commissioned
by the Kansas National Guard in 2005 to celebrate its 150th anniversary.
The print, by noted military history artist Dale Gallon, depicts the 8th
Kansas Volunteers at the Battle of Missionary Ridge during the American
Civil War. The presentation will also include a framed narrative of the
battle. Col. Jim Trafton, deputy chief of staff for Strength Management, and
State Command Sgt. Maj. Steve Rodina, will also be in attendance at the
ceremony. Cabelas was nominated for the presentation by Trafton, who said
the company has always been very supportive of the Kansas National Guard,
particularly in its recruiting efforts. It started out small back in 2004 and has just sort of grown,
said Trafton. On race weekends, they allow us to use a part of their
parking lot and we set up a huge military display. They have military
appreciation days, where anyone in the military can get a discount at
the store. Theyve been really good to us. -30- |
