BAND PROFILE

Cross Creek Ramblers

Cross Creek Ramblers

Dick Duling provides solid rhythm guitar and lead vocals for the group. His background extends to his teenage years when he played in a Rockn Roll Band. He has performed with the Vassar Polcats and has done some solo performances of Cowboy and Western Music. He plays a little fiddle and harmonica also.

Leon Karnowski plays guitar, harmonica, mandolin and fiddle. His specialty are the Slow Ballads and Country Love songs, although you might not know it when it cuts loose on "Two-Dollar Bill" or "Blueridge Mtn Blues". He and his father (Dave Karnowski) performed for many years as a duet in the Northeast Kansas Area.

Roger Shafstall is a true Instrumentalist Virtuoso" ( is there such a word?). He plays anything with strings it. You will see him split most of his stage performance up on the Dobro, fiddle and guitar. He sings some lead, high Tenor and whatever the rest of us cannot reach. Roger has played music all of his life with over 25 years experience in local Country Music Bands, He sang and toured with the "Messengers" Gospel Quartet for a year before settling down back in Topeka.

Mike Stadler plays banjo, guitar, sings lead and some harmony as with the rest of the band. His background is Country also, with last 10 years being devoted primarily to Traditional Bluegrass.

Last but not least is Nancy Stadler, the band's upright bass player who keeps it all together with a solid bass beat. She is the "baby" of the group with about 3 years experience on the "upright". She has received a lot of practice, as she and her husband Mike also play with the Generation Gap Bluegrass and Old-Time Country Band.
