Judy Coder is an award-winning yodeler with an impressive list of accolades. She competed twice, and won both times: first as Patsy Montana National Yodeling Champion in 1999, and then Western Music Association International Yodeling Champion in 2001; she was nominated for Yodeler of the Year by the Academy of Western Artists in 2002, and for Entertainer of the Year by the Western Music Association in 2003.
Judy performs and records western music in the style of Patsy Montana and Dale Evans, and appears frequently with "Pride of the Prairie", reportedly the hottest new cowboy band in eastern Kansas. Stan Tichenor plays mandolin and lead guitar, Phil Thompson plays acoustic bass, and Alan Lawton plays fiddle. "Stan, Phil, and I had performed together for several months," commented Coder, "but when Alan joined us on fiddle, everything just came together for us. It's a perfect blend of talent, and I'm tickled to death to think I had a hand in putting it together."
The group's programs include acoustic western and western swing music from Coder's first two albums, "A Tribute to Patsy Montana" and "Pride of the Prairie", which give her the opportunity to showcase her yodeling talents. Because of the obvious vocal talents of the other band members, listeners are also coming to enjoy Coder's unique arrangements of some of the biggest hits of the genre, such as "Tumblin' Tumbleweeds", "Cool Water", and "Ghost Riders in the Sky." They enjoy frequent guest appearances to sellout crowds at several chuckwagon suppers in NE Kansas.
