KBI Searches for Stolen Truck Connected to Homicide

OTTAWA COUNTY - The KBI is searching for a stolen F150 connected to a recent homicide that occurred in Tescott, Kansas. The vehicle was last seen heading west on I-70 in Colorado. It is a 2006 silver Ford F150, with Kansas license plate 892DZO. It has an extended cab, silver front bumper guard, and black toolbox in the bed. The front tag reads “Eat Beef.”

KBI Releases Annual Crime Data

TOPEKA - The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) has released the 2016 Kansas Crime Index Report. The report compiles crime statistics reported to the KBI by local and state law enforcement agencies across Kansas, which are submitted through the Kansas Incident Based Reporting System (KIBRS).

Kansas Sexual Assault Kit Initiative accounces findings and makes recommendations

TOPEKA - The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) is pleased to announce that the Kansas Sexual Assault Kit Initiative has identified the underlying factors which contributed to the accumulation of unsubmitted sexual assault kits throughout the state of Kansas. The KBI, with input from a statewide working group tasked with evaluating barriers to sexual assault kit testing, identified four factors contributing to the accumulation: a lack of training, a lack of resources, a lack of policy, and a lack of societal awareness.

Kansas Missing Persons Poster Contest

TOPEKA - Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) recently honored the 2017 winner of the Kansas Missing Children’s Poster Contest, a contest for Kansas 5th graders which encourages child safety and creates awareness for children who remain missing.
