Southeast Kansas Drug Enforcement Task Force (SEKDETF)

Formation:

In 1999, The Special Operations Division (SOD) began a pilot program to develop regional drug investigative task forces. The Southeast Kansas Drug Enforcement Task Force (SEKDETF), which covers Cherokee, Crawford, Labette, Allen, Bourbon and Neosho counties, became the first of such task forces in the state. The SEKDETF's mission is to reduce the level of drug trafficking and the availability of illegal drugs in the regions. A related goal is to make a significant impact on the level of violence and property crime associated with the use and trafficking of illegal drugs.

Funding:

A majority of funding for this operation is provided by the Edward G. Byrne Memorial Grant Program, administered by the Kansas Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. This task force is unique in that it pools the resources of two federal programs (HIDTA and Byrne), the KBI, the Attorney General and sixteen regional law enforcement agencies. The SOD functions as the manager and handles budget matters for the SEKDETF.

Help the SEKDETF and all law enforcement by reporting illegal drug activity.
